A family business involving not only Clocks and Barometers, but so much more!
The Barometer Shop was originally established over 50 years ago by Colin and Verity Jones. They acquired the business in 2003 when the founder of the shop decided it was time to retire.
Colin, originally from a mechanical engineering background, had spent the major part of his career in the motor trade, but relished the prospect of actually working with antiques instead of enjoying them just as a hobby. Always interested in horology, having regularly serviced and maintained the clocks at home, he is now just as passionate about barometers and is always happy to discuss the intricacies of their workings with anyone who wishes to understand more about them.
Verity had been working in the business for some years, so already had a good background knowledge of clocks and barometers. She deals mostly with the administration side of the business so is usually found dealing with the paperwork, although is more than happy to welcome customers if Colin is busy elsewhere.
Since owning the business, Colin and Verity have increased the stock to include not only clocks and barometers but interesting collectables, china, porcelain, prints, furniture etc, so it is always worth a visit to see if that "must have" item is waiting for you to discover inside this fascinating shop!

A Family Affair
It is a true family business as Colin and Verity's youngest son, Kirby, joined them in 2004. He is an extremely important member of the team, assisting Colin with the restoration of both the clocks and barometers. If a clock needs delivering back to a clients home or being repaired on site, it will be Kirby who does this, taking great care to set it up correctly in situ and answer any questions you may have about the upkeep of your item.
Colin and Kirby are both members of the British Watch and Clockmakers Guild so you are guaranteed service to the highest professional standards, whether you are buying or having restoration work undertaken.
